Shalaye Turns Up The Heat With ‘Walking On Sunshine’ The New Commercial Dance Remix By The Replikators

8:30 pm

June 1, 2010- Former UK TV Granada Sky and Men and Motors favorite Shalaye hots up the dance floors with the brand new club re-mix of 80′s smash hit song ‘Walking On Sunshine’. The original chart buster was recorded by Katrina and The Wavesway back in 1985. To celebrate the songs 25th year anniversary The Replikators, founded by producer, Paul Wilson, has come up with an updated club and radio remix, which has just been released and is proving to be a hit with DJs around the world. With a punchy new bassline and new vocals by Shalaye this mainstream remix has recently charted on the highly respected Dance Chart at Masspool DJ Association in the USA.

Shalaye is no stranger to the UK music scene either and started her music career by appearing on radio road shows with the likes of Tina Cousins, Mis-teeq & Lemar earlier in the decade and landed a role as a member of a new girl band being put together by Granada Sky Television. The 16 part series called ‘The Rock Fillies’ on the Men and Motors channel was soon attracting audiences of up to 5 Million. As time went on the band split, but because Shalaye was so popular Gary Shoefield, the Executive Producer of Granada Sky Broadcasting, kept her on the channel with additional appearances.

Since then she has worked with various music producers such as Andy Whitmore and Mark Newby Robson and hopes the new single of ‘Walking on Sunshine’ produced by Paul Wilson will prove to be the Summer Song of 2010.

10:16 pm

………………

Dave Downs
12 Longworth Avenue, Middletown, CT. 06457
downs.david@sbcglobal.net/www.davedownsmusic.com/(860)344-8297

PRESS RELEASE

Dave Downs describes his current album, Three Little Fishies, as family music. Including American anthems like “Yankee Doodle,” racous cowboy tunes like “Woopi Ti Yi Yo,” 1940s sing-a-longs like “You Are My Sunshine,” and brand new songs like “Boing,” “Ding-Dang-Doodle” a
nd “A Friend, Indeed,” Three Little Fishies is a “multigenerational songbook of fun, something the kids, mom and dad, and grandma and grandpa can all listen to and enjoy, together.”

To catch him performing selections from Three Little Fishies and his other albums, you’d want t
o show up at Brew Bakers, where for years Downs has been faithfully holding court the last Sunday of every month, starting around noon time. (Brew- Bakers, by the way, located at 169 Main Street, Middletown, CT., 06457, boasts world-famous desserts and an eclectic, Austrian/American breakfast and lunch menu. 860-852-0001.)

Downs specializes in unique, acoustic renderings of jazz/pop standards from in and around the 1940′s (ala The Ink Spots, Mills Brothers, Bing Crosby, Johnny Mercer, Fats Waller, et al). “Nouveau Croon,” he calls it. (He covers popular American tunes from other eras as well.) Accompanying himself on guitar, Downs shows up at all sorts of venues- bars, restaurants, bagel joints, coffee shops, libraries, river boats, street corners, festivals, you name it. But he’s especially fond of the performances he gives for the folks living in assisted-living facilities, nursing homes and rehab centers.

His songwriting efforts have brought him to finalist

and semi-finalist in international competitions like The UK Songwriting Competition, VH-1′s Song of the Year, and The Livin’ Along the Riv
er Songwriting Contest. Downs’ Nouveau Croon style lends itself well to film, and he frequently enjoys collaborating with local and non-local filmmakers. (“Nighttime Descending,” an original instrumental, can be heard on the trailer for Nick Scalia’s short comedy, “SNOOZE,” by going to vimeo.com/4562775.)

Based out of Middletown, Connecticut, the Connecticut Commission on Culture & Tourism lists Downs in their Directory of Performing Artists. For Skope Magazine he writes the occasional music review, and Downs is also the proud Founder and President of The Highly Unsuccessful Songwriters Association. His albums are available for purchase online at CD.Baby.com or at his live performances. By day, he works in supportive housing, and you can learn more about supportive housing by going to www.csh.org.

“Dave Downs captures a decidedly vintage sound, completely fresh and wittily sentimental.” -The Middletown Press. “G-rated but cool.” -SKOPE Magazine. “Downs earliest influences include The Ink Spots, The Mills Brothers and Bing Crosby. His personal style fuses classic acoustic rock and folk with theses earlier mellow fundamentals.” -The Hartford Advocate. “Smooth guitar work and lush, rich harmonies.” -The Muse’s Muse.
“One of the most optimistic collection of love songs I’ve heard in a long time.” -The Hartford Courant.

ICONIC RAPPER, FREEDOM WILLIAMS, SIGNS WITH SEATOSUN|LOVERUSH DIGITAL AND RELEASES “PARTY TIME (GET UP, GET DOWN)” ON
FEBRUARY 16th, 2010.

NEW YORK, NY (December 14th, 2009) – A deep-throated rapper with unmistakable syncopation. An artist who’s sold over 8 million albums worldwide. The voice of unforgettable singles that went #1 around the globe. Queens native, FREEDOM WILLIAMS, is all of those things. As the front man for C+C MUSIC FACTORY during the act’s heyday, WILLIAMS is the voice and personality behind the international hits, “Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now),” as well as the C+C Music Factory singles, “Things That Make You Go Hmmm” and “Here We Go.” The C+C Music Factory album, Gonna Make You Sweat, sold more than 8 million copies worldwide, and its iconic singles have proven their longevity as evidenced each time “Gonna Make You Sweat” is blasted over the soundsystems of baseball stadiums across the country. After a brief hiatus, WILLIAMS returns to the dancefloor with a series of hotly anticipated releases from trans-Atlantic boutique label, SEATOSUN|LOVERUSH DIGITAL, starting with “PARTY TIME (GET UP, GET DOWN)” on FEBRUARY 16th. A full EP will follow in MAY, 2010.

From the breaks on the intro, WILLIAMS’ signature rap makes an entrance and doesn’t let up for the duration of this bouncy, celebratory, syncopated and synth-laden track. Perfectly radio ready, “PARTY TIME” is a commercial hit in-the-making, albeit one ideally suited for re-rubs and extended spins in underground clubs. The earliest and most noteworthy remixes include those by SeaToSun|Loverush Digital labelmates, STED-E & HYBRID HEIGHTS, as well as the DAVE PEZZA Kaleidoscope Remix, the SOULSHAKER Mix, and the IVAN KAY Remix. DARIO CAMINITA of Italy’s M.O.D.A. Music Fashion produced the original track and his brother, MARIO CAMINITA, adds another twist with his Deep Lounge Mix.

Hailing from the Hollis section of Queens, WILLIAMS grew up with lyricism ingrained in his psyche. As a youth in Hollis – stomping grounds of JAM MASTER JAY and RUN DMC, and LL COOL J – WILLIAMS lived among the early hip-hop innovators, and soon he was rockin’ parties as MC TINY TIM. WILLIAMS’ first commercial success came in 1989 rapping on a tune titled, “Freedom” (Nu Groove), featuring diva vocalist BARBARA TUCKER. WILLIAMS’ next single, “Get Dumb” (Vendetta/A&M), was co-produced by KENNY “DOPE” GONZALEZ of MASTERS AT WORK. That track was the B-side to SEDUCTION’s hit single, “You’re My One And Only (True Love),” and it was at New York’s Quad Recording Studios where WILLIAMS first caught the attention of legendary production duo, ROBERT CLIVILLÉS and DAVID COLE, founders of C+C Music Factory. A multi-platinum career with C+C ensued, and WILLIAMS went on to have a thriving solo career afterwards with the release of the album, Freedom (Columbia), in 1993; that album included the top-five charting singles, “Voice Of Freedom” and “Groove Your Mind.”

“It’s really important for me to gel with the other creative forces involved in making a record, and since working with SPEAKERBOX on ‘Mindbounce’ and SYLVIA TOSUN on ‘Underlying Feeling,’ I’ve experienced firsthand SeaToSun’s reputation for taking great care in their releases. This is only the beginning,” said FREEDOM WILLIAMS. For media inquiries, contact EMILY TAN MEDIA RELATIONS at (917) 318-3758 or EmilyEmilyTan@aol.com and visit www.seatosun.com.

From Mahalia to King, A Song with Historical Ties that Embodies the Obama Presidency: "Tell Them About the Dream"

6:57 pm

Laura Vecchione is a Boston and New York based singer and songwriter who has written a song “Tell Them About the Dream,” that embodies the unifying spirit of the Obama presidency and articulates the historic thread that led to this moment. Thousands of people have already watched it on YouTube and have urged her to get this song and video out for consideration in the inaugural celebration and to wider media outlets.

“I was amazed to hear President Elect Obama mention every moment in history that we had put in the video at his acceptance speech in Chicago, from the bridge in Selma, to the Berlin Wall coming down!” said Laura about the video she and Ralph Modica of Phase 1 Digital in New York had made prior to the Obama victory to inspire with its message of hope and unity.

Vecchione was inspired to write the song by the story of Gospel singer Mahalia Jackson calling out to Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. “Tell them about the dream, Martin!” forty-five years to the day that Obama gave his DNC acceptance speech. The song and video were made in a weeks time in three different cities to inspire people before elections. Featured with Vecchione is New Orleans native and Julliard graduate, pianist Jonathan Batiste (Cassandra Wilson). The Gospel background singers were recorded in Boston, and the song was mixed by multi-Grammy winner, Jim Scott (Dixie Chicks, Tom Petty, John Fogerty) in LA. Most everyone involved volunteered their time because of their belief in President Elect (then Senator) Obama and his message of hope and unity.

The song will be included in an upcoming Martin Luther King, Jr. tribute album and charitable website, the Dream On project. An early review of the compilation in the UK Corner with mention of Tell Them About the Dream as a stand out track is here: http://www.eurweb.com/story/eur49066.cfm. WACBIZ has proudly distributed the Dream On! Compilation and Laura Vecchione’s Video to the Grassroots Inaugural Obama Ball. It has also been forwarded to Essence Magazine, and others in consideration of their Martin Luther King’s Birthday and Inaugural Celebrations this January, 2009.

The video can be viewed at the links below. If you would like a DVD or the video file or high quality Mp3 from a YouSendit email, please contact Laura Vecchione (contact information below) immediately.

Skope:
“WTF?! Christmas with the Jews

Listen to “Christmas With The Jews” here

Elizabeth and her crew will play two shows in December with the Spring Standards at the end of December and hit up Maxwells on Jan 22nd with Pete and J. Tour dates below!

The Village Voice:
“Elizabeth & the Catapult have managed to hurl themselves pretty far through word-of-mouth buzz. The unsigned local trio, led by vocalist Elizabeth Ziman and her Aimee Mann–like drawl, has built a loyal local fanbase via jazzy, buoyant pop songs; they’re now making frequent appearances on NPR’s Studio 360. Check out jaunty earworm “Momma’s Boy,” off their self-titled EP—these three won’t be flying under the radar for long.”

Take a clear and powerful voice, add a memorable melody and set it to unique, sophisticated harmonies, and what emerges is Elizabeth & the Catapult’s singular sound. At a time when so much music is saturated with familiarity, the band’s style, which Northeast Performer describes as “a mixture of organic jazz, rock and pop,” is a welcome departure from a well-beaten path. Comprised of Elizabeth Ziman (vocals, keys), Danny Molad (drums), and Peter Lalish (guitar), Elizabeth & the Catapult came into existence in 2004.

Recent Press Love:

Billboard Underground Artist of the Month
Billboard Emergency Artist to Watch
Featured at the Aspen Idea’s Festival Studio 360
Featured on WNYC’s Soundcheck

Spin.com Artist of the Day:
“The group utilizes elastic rhythms and dark subject matter that gives it’s songs a slow burn resonance. The sing-a-long swing of “Momma’s Boy” makes it one of the most tuneful kiss-off songs in recent memory. Fan so of Feist should be headover heels in no time.”

Billboard Mag:
“’Momma’s Boy’ is a weight title that will prompt savvy listeners to look for more from this budding act, while rewarding outlets that indulge Ziman by breaking type.”

Boston Globe:
The self-assured Elizabeth and the Catapult prove what a sultry-voiced Greenwich Village habitué with a Norah Jones jones should do: Just let it flow.”

Tour dates!
Dec 27 Washington DC at DC9
Dec 29 Easton MD at Coffee East
Jan 22 Hoboken NJ at Maxwells
Feburary 6 New York At The Nagelberg Theater at Baruch College

In less than two years since their move to New York, Elizabeth and the Catapult has already racked up an impressive list of accomplishments. In May and August of 2006 they were featured in WNYC’s “Soundcheck” as well as PRI’s “Fair Game with Faith Salie” At the end of the year they were dubbed by NPR as “One of the Best Discoveries of 2006.” The Catapult have had residencies at clubs such as the Living Room and Rockwood Music Hall, and after opening for national headliners like Jessie Harris, Kirk Kirkwood (of the Meat Puppets fame), The Wood Brothers (of Medeski, Martin, and Wood), and Amanda Palmer (of The Dresden Dolls) there was enough buzz about them to support a tour and label interest on the West Coast. All of this success also earned them a place as the Billboard Underground Artist for last October.

Bound by a common love of eclectic influences, Elizabeth & the Catapult draws inspiration from artists such as Tom Waits, David Byrne, Joni Mitchell, and Jon Brion—as well as classical influences such as Debussy, Ravel and Chopin. One explanation for the band’s musical diversity is Elizabeth Ziman’s musical background. She was trained as a classical pianist until the age of sixteen. “As a kid, I used to practice all the time…” Elizabeth explains. “But one day I realized that I couldn’t lock myself in a room for eight hours a day…that’s when I started writing and singing.” After that, it quickly became apparent that her vocal abilities rivaled her piano skills. In 2002, Elizabeth successfully auditioned to be a background vocalist for soul-queen Patti Austin and ended up joining her on tour for the next year and a half. Elizabeth’s experience along with Pete and Danny’s folk/rock sensibility piece together to make up the band’s harmonically distinctive pop sound, a sound well reflected in their stylistically diverse new EP.

After a listen to the Elizabeth & the Catapult EP, it is immediately clear that a great deal of thought went into each of the songs’ arrangements. Strings, Horns, Marimba and Synthesizers are all blended together, creating an organic, off-beat style that fans have often referred to as “baroque pop.” The sound of the EP is also shaped by the guerilla-style fashion in which it was recorded. Drummer Danny Molad recorded most of the EP in basements and bathrooms, producing this album, along with Elizabeth, in an incredibly modest home studio. With these limited resources, Elizabeth & the Catapult managed to produce an expertly mixed album. Every note of the EP sounds deliberately placed while there still manages to be an air of effortlessness that penetrates throughout all the songs.

In their recordings as well as live performances, Elizabeth and her band members bring together all their backgrounds and experiences to make music that they themselves enjoy. They acknowledge their amorphous style and readily admit that it probably scares record labels. Even so, Elizabeth asserts that she is “not interested in assigning herself a specific style.” Elizabeth & the Catapult are proud of their ever-changing sound and are committed to keeping their music fresh and creative.

“… their new full-length No Tempo, is a stunner.” – RCRDLBL

IN THE PRESS
“Boo And Boo Too are a Lawrence, Kansas sextet with fang to spare. Specializing in incredibly muscular, sleeves-rolled-up guitar rock that throws up great walls of fly paper melody, their new full-length No Tempo, is a stunner. ‘I Know Nothing’s Alright’ is that album’s towering opener and its squalls, like those in standout ‘No Tempo,’ are some of the most breathtaking I’ve heard in a while…” – rcrdlbl.com

“[No Tempo] continues on as a work of sweltering hard driving claustrophobia intermingled with shoegaze, NYC noise, and a dark myopia reminiscent of The Cure’s Pornography.” – parasitesandsycophants.com

“But what makes No Tempo such a damn listenable record is that Boo and Boo Too are able to draw from several areas of music’s past and blend all their influences into a sound that’s familiar before it’s fresh. It’s loud without being obnoxious, current without being too trendy, and vintage shoegaze without being patronizing. In its entirety, No Tempo is as straightforward an offering of bottled manicisim as one can get.” – baeblemusic.com

“No Tempo plays like a drug-induced, ragged hodgepodge of shoegaze, noise, punk-rock vocals, and droning My Bloody Valentine-esque guitars.” – thankscaptainobvious.net

“Gorgeous and ugly at the same time, No Tempo is filled with bar band moments that evolve into something more fit for an occult megachurch.” – haveyouheard.net

“With expansive vocals over powerful drumming and the occasional stringent riff, Boo and Boo Too builds a trajectory at once wistful and confident, gorgeous and rough, vulnerable and uncompromisingly defiant.” – collegeotr.com

The winner will also receive a CD of the album, as will the five runners up. To win, entrants simply post photographs that fall into one of three categories on the competition page, found at http://www.tripwolf.com/en/page/competition/dido.

Submissions are now being accepted in the following categories:

- Last photo before heading home from traveling

- Best travel photo

- Best adventure photo
“We are thrilled to be working with RCA Label Group to present our users with this wonderful opportunity, and to work with such an acclaimed artist as Dido,” says Sebastian Heinzel, tripwolf CEO. “There is nothing like traveling to make you appreciate home. So this album is especially significant to our community of globetrotters.”

The competition will run for a full month. A combination of tripwolf and RCA representatives will judge the submissions, and the winners will be announced shortly after the closing of the competition on January 15, 2009. Guidelines and rules can be found on the tripwolf competition page http://www.tripwolf.com/en/page/competition/dido.
